WIN a 2,000 Year Old Biblical Coin from Jerusalem

A Challenge – Reward: 1 of 3 authentic Widows’ Mite from Jerusalem

I fully realize that this article is long, but I give you my word that if the instructions at the end of this editorial are followed and the winners identify themselves as outlined, I will forward three authentic Widows’ Mite found from within the walls of Old Jerusalem, with both an Olive wood case and a Formal Certificate of Authenticity from Zak Mishiriky, one of the foremost licensed Christian Antique Dealers of Jerusalem.

These Hasmonian Jewish coins are from the time of Jesus.  As they were recovered within the walls of Old Jerusalem, they most certainly had at one time, cycled through the treasury of Herod’s Temple as either a Tithing or a Tax.

Thank You for your participation and may God Bless.

What does it mean when we say: “It is Written in Stone”

Temple Square in Salt Lake City receives over 5 Million visitors each year from around the world.  Nearly 30 languages are available for Tours spoken by Missionaries native to the Countries of these international visitors.

Just outside of the South Visitor Center is a very graphic and almost poetic representation of the core hypocrisy of Mormonism, which the casual visitor will never comprehend.

As an active Mormon High Priest attending General Conference in 2007 with my family, I took a picture (attached) of what would become a perfect example of the Grand Deception in Granite.

There, “Written in Stone” are two statements of the Mormon Church that are actually considered to be “Scripture”, which I knew to be bold lies that the millions of visitors would never recognize.  What is truly evil is not necessarily the “Scriptures” carved in stone, but the intended dishonesty of those degenerates who had actually placed them within number one location on the planet for the promotion of Mormonism as a demonstration of its value of honesty and integrity.

The undisputed fact is that at the exact time that Joseph Smith Jr., the founder of the Mormon Church, wrote these two “Scriptures” he, himself was deliberately violating what he was telling everyone else to do.  And yet, this incredible hypocrisy and vivid mockery of the Laws of The United States of America is what the Mormon Church selects to CARVE in STONE for the world to see?

Here is what the Mormon Church arrogantly displays in Temple Square for the uninformed International visitor to consider as a founding pillar of Mormonism, when it is actually a perfect demonstration of the total contempt of the true Christian value of honesty:

“Let no man break the laws of the land, for he that keepeth the laws of God hath no need to break the laws of the land.”

“We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring and sustaining the law.”   “Let no man break the laws of the land, for he that keepeth the laws of God hath no need to break the laws of the land.”

The level of hypocrisy is actually very impressive.  Of all the truly outstanding Mormon Values to display to the world, the Leadership of the LDS Church has unbelievably chosen to carve in stone… sustaining the law?  How is that (sustaining the law) in any possible way a core value or characteristic of Mormonism?  In my experience, sustaining the law is a Mormon concept written in Jell-O, not Stone.  It is very true that the individual Mormon may be very Patriotic and persistently Law abiding, but the Corporation of the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as a financial Organization hidden as a Church, is not and has never been.

Without question, the weakest chapter within the entire History of the Mormon Story has always been “sustaining the law”, followed closely by a near total lack of honesty and integrity.  There are hundreds and hundreds of City, County, State and Federal Laws directed specifically at bending the will of the Mormon Church to conform to legal and social norms.  Praise be to God for Abraham Lincoln as the first of many Presidents, Governors, Mayors and Officers of the Law who have taken legal action against the Mormon Church.

In recognition of this Olympic Year (2018), I thought it fitting that I would give my LDS Critics an opportunity to demonstrate some amazing spiritual gymnastics, remarkable linguistic acrobatics and astonishing ethical agilities.

Below are a few Facts of Mormonism, which to the untrained eye appear to be totally incompatible with each other.  I simply ask, which of these statements of Mormon Facts are True?  Is it the WORDS of Mormonism or the ACTIONS of Mormonism that speak to you most?

The few examples below are equally documented, in that, each and every word within the quotes (“”) are valid WORDS of Mormonism or valid ACTIONS of Mormonism.  Each statement is Officially approved by the First Presidency and the Quorum of the 12 Apostles and not from, as it may appear, any rival organizations that are completely opposed and incompatible to each other.

Both sides… the WORDS and the ACTIONS are from Mormonism – Which is true and which is not?

Within the seemingly infinite concept of the term… the word hypocrisy does not even begin to communicate the unseen dangers of this comparison.

Please help me to understand what it is that YOU understand about Mormonism.  Should we trust the WORDS of Mormonism or the ACTIONS of Mormonism?

WORDS:      “And again, as pertaining to the law of the priesthood – if any man espouse another, and the first [wife] give her consent, and if he espouse the second [wife], and they are virgins, and have vowed to no other man [already married women], then is he justified; he cannot commit adultery for they are given unto him; for he cannot commit adultery with that that belongeth unto him and to no one else.”

Reference from D&C, 132:61 – Scripture approved by the First Presidency and the Quorum of the 12 Apostles.

ACTIONS:   “Joseph Smith was sealed to a number of women [12-14 wives] who were already married.”  “But Emma likely did not know about all of Joseph’s sealings.”   “Sealings for time and eternity included commitments and relationships during this life, generally including the possibility of sexual relations.”  “Evidence indicates that Joseph Smith participated in both [30-40 wives] types of sealings.”

Here the Mormon Church calmly states that Joseph Smith lied to his wife, his Church, his neighbors and his Nation.  Few members of the Mormon Church realize that as Joseph Smith was living his secret life of adultery, he was also an active candidate for President of the United States of America in 1844.

WORDS:      “We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring and sustaining the law.”   “Let no man break the laws of the land, for he that keepeth the laws of God hath no need to break the laws of the land.”

Reference from 12th Article of Faith and D&C, 58:21 – Scripture approved by the First Presidency and the Quorum of the 12 Apostles. These are the deceitful statements that are carved in stone at the south end of Temple Square.

ACTIONS:   “Many Church leaders went into hiding to avoid arrest by federal officers searching for men with more than one wife.”   “In Joseph Smith’s time, monogamy was the only legal form of marriage in the United States.”

Here the Mormon Church calmly states that Joseph Smith did indeed lie to his wife, his Church, his neighbors and his Nation.  And, that other Mormon leaders were hiding to avoid arrest, does that sound like sustaining the law?

Reference from Our Heritage – A Brief History of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Page 98, and the Official Mormon Gospel Topics Essay – “Plural Marriage in Kirtland and Nauvoo” – Statement approved by the First Presidency and the Quorum of the 12 Apostles.

WORDS:      “Worthy character will strengthen your capacity to respond obediently to the direction of the Spirit as you make vital decisions.”  “Are you honest in your dealings with your fellow men?”

In addition, it should be noted that within the archives of the many lectures and sermons given by the Mormon leadership within 185 years of their General Conferences, over 500 have been very suspiciously centered on Honesty and Integrity.

Reference from Apostle Richard G. Scott, Truth: The Foundation of Correct Decisions – Statements approved by the First Presidency and the Quorum of the 12 Apostles.  A routine Temple Recommend question that Joseph Smith Jr. the founder of Mormonism, could not honestly answer from one of his own Bishops.

ACTIONS:   “In Joseph Smith’s time, monogamy was the only legal form of marriage in the United States.”

Here the Mormon Church calmly states that Joseph Smith lied to his wife, his Church, his neighbors and his Nation. Additionally, the Mormon Church fully recognizes that Joseph Smith was a Criminal in disguise, acting as the Prophet of God and a Candidate for President of the United States.

Reference from the Official Mormon Gospel Topics Essay – “Plural Marriage in Kirtland and Nauvoo” – Statement approved by the First Presidency and the Quorum of the 12 Apostles.

WORDS:      “A lie is any communication given to another with the intent to deceive.”   “Lies are often excuses for lack of courage.  Sometimes lies are nothing more than excuses for poor performance.  Usually one lie or deception has to be covered by another.  Lies cannot stand alone.  Each one must continually be supported by more and more of its own kind.”

Reference from Apostle Marvin J. Ashton, This Is No Harm, General Conference, April 1982 – Statements approved by the First Presidency and the Quorum of the 12 Apostles.

ACTIONS:   “The 1832 Account of the First Vision – The earliest known account of the First Vision, the only account written in Joseph Smith’s own hand.”

No Mormon Church Authority has ever claimed that Joseph Smith had ever communicated to anyone the story of the First Vision prior to 1832.  On April 6th of 1830, when the Mormon Church was organized, not a single person alive had heard of the First Vision.  The Mormon Church is accurate in both detail and context, “The earliest known account of the First Vision is 1832.”  Despite the many very deceptive paintings, movies, pageants and Missionary testimonies.

WORDS:      “We do not believe it just to mingle religious influence with civil government,”

Reference from D&C 134:9 – Scripture approved by the First Presidency and the Quorum of the 12 Apostles.

ACTIONS:   “While apostasy festered in Nauvoo in late 1843, the Prophet Joseph Smith was busy politically.”   “He [Joseph Smith] told them that they would have to send every man in Nauvoo who could speak in public to campaign and preach the gospel and that he would be among them.”

Here, Joseph Smith is telling “them” – the membership of the Mormon Church in 1843, they are to campaign for his Presidential race.

WORDS:      “When we are faced with spiritual counterfeits, the Book of Mormon can help us determine what’s true and what’s not.”

Referenced from the Official Magazine of the Mormon Church – The Ensign of April, 2016

As stated and approved by the Mormon Prophets, the Book of Mormon itself can be used in a very real way to identify “Counterfeit” teaching and doctrine.

How then does the very unique version of Mormonism, which a Mormon Missionary may bring to your front door, actually compare with the uncontaminated teachings of the Book of Mormon?

Here is a very short review that you might ask a Mormon Missionary:

  • Book of Mormon – God is a Spirit with no Body: Alma 18:26-29
  • Book of Mormon – God is a Spirit with no Body: Alma 22:8-11
  • Book of Mormon – God is Eternal He does not Progress: Mormon 9:9
  • Book of Mormon – God is Eternal He does not Progress: Mormon 9:19
  • Book of Mormon – God is Eternal He does not Progress: Moroni 8:18
  • Book of Mormon – Jesus is God and does not Progress: 2 Nephi 26:12
  • Book of Mormon – Jesus is God and does not Progress: Mosiah 15:1-4
  • Book of Mormon – Jesus is God and does not Progress: Mosiah 16:15
  • Book of Mormon – Jesus is God and does not Progress: Alma 11:38-40
  • Book of Mormon – Father, Spirit, and Son in One: 2 Nephi 31:21
  • Book of Mormon – Father, Spirit, and Son in One: Alma 11:26-44
  • Book of Mormon – Father, Spirit, and Son in One: Mormon 7:7
  • Book of Mormon – Father, Spirit, and Son in One: Ether 3:14

Reference from Ensign, April 2016, Dennis C. Gaunt – The Book of Mormon, Scriptures and Statements approved by the First Presidency and the Quorum of the 12 Apostles.

ACTIONS:   The Book of Mormon contains NO classic Mormon Doctrine.  So are the “spiritual counterfeits” mentioned by Brother Gaunt really the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price?

The current Mormon Faith cannot be justified or even supported by the Book of Mormon.  Why then, within the Introduction for each Book of Mormon, is this bold statement from Joseph Smith included:

“I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.”

How can this statement be true when the Book of Mormon teaches of a very different God, a God who is Spirit, a God without flesh and bones, and a God who is fully Eternal in both nature and form, who was never a sinful man on another earth who progressed to become a God, and a God who is not just One in purpose but One in essence and reality with the Spirit and the Son.

This is why Joseph Smith never (that I have found) actually taught from the Book of Mormon.  He was too busy building Mormonism as an endless situational challenge strategy from within his own mind and not at all from the Book of Mormon.

  • No Baptism for the dead in the Book of Mormon.
  • No doctrine that God was once a man in the Book of Mormon.
  • No doctrine God has a body of flesh and bones in the Book of Mormon.
  • No doctrine of a Mother in Heaven in the Book of Mormon.
  • No men can become Gods in the Book of Mormon.
  • No Polygamy or Polyandry (wives are not shared) in the Book of Mormon.
  • No “Worthiness” interviews before Baptism in the Book of Mormon.
  • No Temple marriages or sealings in the Book of Mormon.
  • No Temple endowments or secret handshakes in the Book of Mormon.
  • No Relief Society for the women in the Book of Mormon.
  • No Melchizedek Priesthood Quorums in the Book of Mormon.
  • No High Priesthood for the older men in the Book of Mormon.
  • No Spirit World or Precreation Heavenly Families in the Book of Mormon.
  • No monthly Home Teaching in the Book of Mormon.
  • The Old Testament is valid and trusted in the Book of Mormon.
  • No successive President of the Church progressing from the most senior Apostle in the Book of Mormon.

These solid Book of Mormon active and important realities surely demonstrate that the imaginary Peoples and Prophets of the Book of Mormon would not recognize the LDS Church of today?

As a former Mormon Bishop and member of the Church for over 32 years, my wife Kathy and I have spent many years in various Leadership positions of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, documenting, verifying and studying, specifically, the original teachings of the Church. I have found many of the most fundamental of these teachings to be completely out of harmony with the Lord’s teachings in the Bible.
